Project Overview

This building was purchased out of foreclosure by NewTown Macon in 2014 and became one of the most impactful renovations in Downtown Macon’s revitalization effort. Because of a previous fire, the building’s façade was in desperate need of restoration.

New storefront openings were designed, including a private entrance to the upper floor lofts. Windows were restored by local artisans, marble on the street-facing pilasters were thoroughly cleaned, and a new cornice was designed to provide a substantial crown for a handsome edifice.

Twelve lofts were added on the second and third floors, in a mixture of Studio and one-bedroom arrangements. Many of the building’s original elements were highlighted, including large archways, restored brickwork, and impressive solid-wood columns. These features within the apartments and common spaces showcase the building’s history while providing residents with amenities for modern living.
