Project Overview

South Macon-Bibb County has a rich history of supporting its libraries, but when demand exceeded the capacity of the Rocky Creek Branch location, a new 15,595 square foot facility was constructed to provide Adult and Children’s library services, browsing space, and staff work spaces. In addition to traditional book stacks, there is also significant infrastructure for computer technology throughout the building. The open concept allows for optimum workflow and visual control of patrons throughout the space, while a rhythm of column arrangement and variation of ceiling detailing provides intimate space to relax and lose oneself in a book.

The Children’s area provides ample open space for Story Hour programs and other activities. The Adult area features fiction and non-fiction collections, reference materials, browsing stacks, and a separate reading area for newspapers, magazines, and other periodicals.
