Project Overview
Part of the Middle Georgia Regional Library System, this 6,700 square foot library replaces a smaller library that was destroyed by fire. The dramatic open and naturally lit space makes the building appear larger than its actual size.
The facility contains soaring ceilings with a grid of rich wood-stained columns and dropped beams with dramatic lighting. The children’s storytime area and puppet theater furnishings were custom created to reflect a woodland theme, providing comfort and an appropriate scale to chairs, tables, and stools. Complementary adult-sized furnishings allow for greater interaction.
A custom circulation desk area was located to maximize librarian efficiency while giving complete visibility of the book shelving. The community meeting room is utilized for computer training, local club meetings, and other educational purposes. A new drive-through was created for book return and inclement weather drop-off while providing an anchor to the end of the building.
