Project Overview
Originally the Plaza Hotel (ca. 1903), the building was purchased by NewTown Macon and renovated into two commercial spaces on the ground floor and twelve loft apartments on the upper three floors.
Units are a mixture of Studio, 1, and 2-bedroom apartments. Residents enter through the history hotel lobby, featuring restorations of the original stamped tin ceilings, intricate wood detailing in heavy wainscoting, and timeless terrazzo floors.
The apartments are arranged around shared lobbies on each floor, where key architectural features from the building’s history are prominently showcased—including large arched openings and a dramatic skylight. Gorgeous transom windows were carefully restored and left exposed on the lobby side, while fire-rated enclosures were added on the apartment side for safety. Throughout the building, original wood floors, trim, columns, casing, and windows were meticulously preserved and restored.
