Project Overview

The relationship between a group of buildings now known as The Woodward Hotel + Quill Bar was years in the making. Prior to BTBB’s involvement, the buildings were primarily utilized as offices, restaurant storage, and miscellaneous alley-facing buildings.

The challenge was to combine them into a harmonious arrangement of unique Airbnb-style hotel rooms, some of which were directly on the street-front and some which overlooked dilapidated roofs. Working in partnership with Robinson Home Interior Design, the design team evaluated each room’s views, access to natural daylight and the arrangement of unique historic features.

Quill Bar draws its inspiration from traditional Southern authors and features a speakeasy-style bar on the ground floor. A new rooftop lounge is accessed via a staircase inserted into a once-nondescript alley building, now transformed with a raw material palette inside its restored brick shell and connected by a bridge to the rooftop gathering area.

This project utilized Georgia and Federal Historic Tax Credits.
