Project Overview
The original City Hall Building for the City of Douglas, Georgia was erected in 1959 and an addition followed in 1979. While the municipality experienced growth, the building remained the same for far too long, until it reached an inflection point.
At that time, the buildings were completely gutted, renovated and an addition was constructed, reorienting the front of the facility toward South Madison Avenue / Highway 441 – welcoming the community with a large and inviting public plaza. The site was redeveloped with new drives, parking and a customer service drive-through. City offices housed at this location include:
- Administrative offices of the Mayor, City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Community Development, Planning & Zoning, Animal Control, Code Enforcement, and Finance Department.
- City Clerk – self-service lobby, customer service representative offices, records retention
- City Commissioner’s Suite – chambers, conference room, and offices
