Project Overview
Mercer Music at Capricorn represents the re-birth of Capricorn, not only as a recording studio, but also as an educational facility, museum, performance space, and music incubator. In its new iteration, it serves to encourage new bands who may one day rise to prominence.
The original studio and control room were restored to their 1970’s appearance. A new Studio B and new control room with state-of-the-art digital recording equipment was added.
The remainder of the facility includes a bar, museum, offices for staff and local music-related organizations, and rehearsal rooms. The building required significant structural repairs and a complete restoration of the façade under the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation.
