Project Overview
Originally constructed in the early 1940’s, Felton Homes was very dated, but also a very unique public housing development. Using the Green Communities Criteria, the property was transformed into a ‘green’ energy-efficient community to provide a more healthy, safe, and efficient living environment for Felton Homes residents. The principles for the transformation of this project are preserve, conserve, and educate.
- Preserve the basic structural elements thus reducing the amount of materials going to landfill.
- Conserve energy, water, materials, and resources – both during and after construction.
- Educate workers about materials and methods during construction (energy conservation and maintenance of the materials and systems utilized in the project).
