Constructed in 1987, this distinctly Mid-Century Modern structure has served the citizens of Milledgeville for decades. Yet, the changing pace of library services required a new look at this structure. The entrance was relocated to create a more public face to the building. By reworking underutilized interior spaces, a community meeting room was developed with accommodation for after hours’ use by the public. New custom circulation desks provide patrons with access to library staff and a large glass walls allow for a more natural flow from the lobby to Children’s, Teen, and Adult collections. The updated furnishings, lighting, and finishes provide a warm environment in which to conduct research, enjoy a book, or simply browse the collected works.
