Otis Redding Center for the Arts, Macon
Macon, GA
The Otis Redding Center for the Arts is a multipurpose facility designed to provide children and youth a place to dive into music and the arts. The building fulfills Otis Redding’s vision of inspiring civic engagement in Macon’s young population. The center is used for music instruction, workshops, and summer camps for children and youth.
The 15,000 square foot building blends two buildings from the 1800s with a contemporary addition. The unique downtown site also includes a small outdoor amphitheater.
The historic buildings house music labs, offices, and a board room. The new building houses a two-story gallery with interactive displays, a state-of-the-art recording studio, practice rooms and a multipurpose space that can be used as part of the lobby, as a practice space, or as the stage for the amphitheater.
